Senator Min Calls on DMV to Reverse Laguna Hills Office Closure
(IRVINE, CA) – Today, Senator Dave Min penned a letter to the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) calling on the Department to reverse its decision to permanently close the Laguna Hills office after nearly 40 years of service. Buttressed between offices in Costa Mesa and San Clemente, the Laguna Hills office provides customer service to nearly 900,000 Californians residing in central and south Orange County, including a significant population of seniors given its close proximity to Laguna Woods. The DMV did not provide a motive for the decision, and simply stated that the location does not meet the department’s current needs.
“It’s disappointing that the DMV would shut down a location that is so critical to the needs of our Orange County community. The closure means reduced access to critical DMV services and longer commutes for vulnerable residents who have relied on the Laguna Hills office for decades. Without a backup plan to address this demand for in-person customer services, I urge the DMV to keep the Laguna Hills office open until a suitable alternative is opened in its place.”
