Senator Dave Min Releases Statement on 55 Freeway Shooting of 6-year-old Boy
The boy died after a gunman opened fire during a road rage incident
IRVINE, CA — Senator Dave Min (D-Irvine) released the following statement after today’s news that a 6-year-old boy was killed by a gunman during a road rage incident on the 55 Freeway in Orange:
“I am heartbroken at yet another gun violence episode in our district, this time claiming the life of an innocent 6-year-old boy,” Min said. “Last year, we saw a record number of guns purchased during the pandemic. Unfortunately, as our economy and society are reopening, we will see more incidents of gun violence in our community. My heart is with the boy’s family and will honor his memory with action. We must address the epidemic of gun violence in our country head on.”
Min has authored SB 264, which will end the sale of guns and ammunition on state property. It is scheduled to be heard on the Senate floor.
